This trek starts from Wan, a quaint village perched on the green slopes of mountains. The trail passes by the small huts, cattle sheds, step farming fields, children greet you with innocent smile, shepherd boy leisurely walks past with his flock of sheep, path takes you to the top of the hill, this place is called ‘Ran-Ka -Dhar’, other side of the mountains opens up before you and you can witness the first glimpse of Mt Trishul. Trail goes down the hill upto Neel-Ganga river which is coming down from Bedni Bugyal. Treacherous uphill trek through dense forest starts after crossing the Neel-Ganga. Walking through Chir Pine and Rhododendron forest listening to the sound of chirping of birds, rustling of leaves and gurgling of narrow streams, brings one closer to nature. Bedni Bugyal give you mesmerizing view of Mt. Trishul, Mt. Nandagunt. Bedni Bugyal is the Gateway of Roopkund Trek. Which is very famous in India. It also known as mysterious lake or skeleton lake. Take a share taxi from Rishikesh to WAN Village via Karnprayag and Devprayag. Devprayag is a holy city which is the confluence of the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers, after this the rivers become the holy Ganges. We Arrive at WAN by the evening and check into a Lodge and Dinner & overnight stay.
After early breakfast we start our trekking to Gairoli Patal our first base camp. The trail first move to Lord Latu Devta temple, which consider the protector of this beautiful village, this place is also very attractive itself. Every trekker come here and prayer for his/her safe journey. According to villager Lord Latu Devta is consider brother of Goddess Nanda Devi wife of Lord Shiv. Then we move to Ranka-Dhar, According to Hindu mythology this place related to a famous battle between Goddess Parvati and demon Lohasur, which start Lohajung and end here Ranaka Dhar. Which is long meadows give you beautiful view of valley of mountains. We take rest here and enjoy this beautiful view. After that we move to Gailroli Patal via Neel Ganga. During the trekking we cross Oak and Rhododendron forest. Finally we reach to our base camp Gariroli Patal which is long meadow. Patch the camp/hut here, enjoy our hot lunch here. Dinner with campfire. Overnight stay here.
After early morning breakfast, We move to Bedni Bugyals the lush green meadows spread all over the highlands. Bedni Top is a vast meadow which offers good views of Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Chaukhambha and Neelkanth peaks. Reflection of Mr. Trishul (7,120 meters) on the divine Bedni Kund is just fabulous. According to local folk in the Bedni Kund, Lord Shiva and Maa Nanda Devi marriage happened. Time for hot lunch and rest of the day for excursion. Night stay Abin Kharak.
We venture on a route situated on the right side of Abin Kharak to climb Ali Bugyal. The distance is around 4 kms steep climb from here but totally doable. April is perfect time to do this trek as Rhododendrons will be at their blooming season. We explore Aali Bugyal to reach a vantage point to get the glimpse of this beautiful ridge meadow. By evening we come down to Abin Kharak.
Today we have enough time, after breakfast we start our trek to WAN village, follow the same route. In WAN, we interact with localities. Dinner and Overnight stay in Guest house/Lodge.
